Will the next iPhone be fully wireless?

apple-keynote-2017-invite

The leaked invitation for the 2017 Apple event suggests wireless charging. Of course the image can be fake.

However, could the iPhone 7s, 8 or 10 be fully wireless? Last year, Apple showed the world that it’s willing to make its customers life difficult by removing ports. The MacBook Pro removed all the usual ports like MagSafe, USB type-A and SD card reader and added a couple of USB type-C ports. The new MacBook Pro still carries the Pro add-on despite losing all the Pro it had.

Later in the year, Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone. This way they were able to make it water resistant and sell more Lighting headphones. The sound was supposed to be better and some fanboys and audiophiles can definitely hear the difference when closed into a noise free bunker. Everybody still listens the normal quality streamed music, not the fancy high bitrate stuff.

Now that everyone has a Lighting cable, it’s time to make the iPhone completely wireless by removing the charging port, creating a new wireless charging standard and forcing everybody to buy a few new chargers. That would be so typical post-Jobs Apple.

Making the iPhone cable free would mean that the data cable is also gone. This could be justified by safety, as there would no longer be a way to the storage via USB. All data transfers would be wireless. No more movie downloads from iTunes via USB-cable.

And imagine what that would mean to our charging habits. If the phone has to stay on top of a charging pad for hours because of  the slow amps. How would Apple get around that?

I’ll tell you how, with a cable. They’ll just add a wireless charging pad with magnets at the end of the cable instead of a Lightning jack. That way you can keep using the phone while charging and that way its way different from the others for Apple to patent it.

Of course they will make their own standard. What did you think? Apple is the only company so selfish that they make their own everything. Can’t use USB, can’t use 3.5mm headphones, now can’t use existing wireless charging standards. Now the other manufacturers need to buy Apple’s wireless charging standard because they have patented magnets and others can’t use their wireless charging phones while charging.

There are just too many 3rd party Lighting cables. This time Apple will make sure that the phone only accepts the real Apple $89 wireless charger. Just add wireless tag of some sort that confirms it’s the real deal. They will make some serious cash with that.

Aside the wireless charging, what phenomenal new innovations will the next iPhone bring? Well, OLED display. Finally the Apple users can enjoy the black that’s actually black. The phone can be made thinner because the individual pixels light themselves up and don’t need the backlight module. Also, the display might be curved, never seen that before either.

With all these innovations, Apple is probably going to make what Samsung did with the Note 7… no no not that… the order number skipping thing. The next iPhone is called iPhone 10. Because it’s 2017, the 10th anniversary of the iPhone of course. And don’t forget the price, it’ll obviously go up.

The new 4″ iPhone shows up on a video

Apple is rumored to bring back the small iPhone. Now a video shows the device.

Recent rumors have suggested the return of the 4″ iPhone in Q1 or Q2 this year. Now we finally get the first look at the possible device. The design is very similar to the iPhone 6 and 6S and therefore the expected name is 6C.

The display seems to be 4″ that we were used to with the iPhone 5 and 5S back in 2012 and 2013. According to the rumors, the 6C would not have A9 chip or 2GB of RAM but A8 and 1GB instead. Especially the RAM would be a disappointment but luckily Apple Pay will be onboard. No word on the 3D Touch yet, though.

The iPhone 6C would be a big addition to Apple’s lineup as many customers are still running 5’s and 5S’s because of the added size of the newer models. We were just wondering, how tiny the battery is going to be?

Apple launches a battery case for iPhone

smart-battery-case

Apple has silently launched a battery case for iPhone 6 and 6s. The case doubles the battery life with a horrible design.

iPhone 6s Smart Battery case is very similar to the official silicon cases but has an 1877mAh battery built in. It’s more than double of the iPhone 6s battery capacity.

Compared to some third party cases, the official battery case has some advantages and some disadvantages. For example, the Apple case is charged via a Lightning port as the third party cases use USB. The Apple case also redirects the speaker to the front, which is always better than bottom. Unfortunately Apple didn’t add a feature to turn the case off. That means that the iPhone is always charging from the case and user can’t save the juice in the case.

The design is really quite bad. The battery is just thrown to the back of the case and it’s quite bulky. This design could be great for some cheap third party case but this official case costs $99 and carries the official Apple logo. This is yet another design flaw for Apple this year. First the Magic Mouse 2 and Apple Pencil charging solutions and now this.

Apple announces the iPhone 6S

iphone-6s

Apple has just released their new iPhone lineup. Unsurprisingly the new models are called iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

IPhone 6S brings some new features but most things stay the same. The display size stays the same at 4.7″ but it’s now pressure sensitive. The 6S Plus also keeps the screen size and resolution but adds the pressure sensitivity. Both models grow up in size because of the new stronger aluminium used in their chassis and the added thickness comes from the pressure sensitive module.

The processor is updated to the new 64-bit A9. Cameras are now 12 and 5 megapixels. Apple finally adds the 4K video recording to the main camera and the 1080p FaceTime video for the front facing camera. Both models now have optical image stabilization. The display now acts as a flash for the front facing camera. Live Photos capture a little video every with every photo and the feature is on out of the box.

The new iPhones include the new TouchID 2 that is mentioned to be faster than the previous model. The M9 motion co-processor is now used to power the always-on “Hey Siri” feature to communicate with Siri without touching the device.

Force Touch is renamed as 3D Touch that gives shortcuts and tries to change the way we use the smartphone. The 3D Touch creates shortcuts to the home screen. Long pressing an icon gives options to frequently used actions in that app. Most of the default apps also support the 3D Touch in many different ways.

The new Rose Gold color option is added to the usual lineup of colors. The prices and storage sizes stay the same and the last year models get a $100 price drop. The new iPhones will be available on September 25.

September 9 is the Day for the New iPhones

apple-iphone-event-2015

Apple has announced the September 9 iPhone event. The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are expected.

The press invitations are sent with the text “Hey Siri, give us a hint”. We already know that the new iPhones are not bringing anything extraordinary, so the text might hint us about the Apple TV getting Siri support. It’s not excluded that Apple might bring some kind of home assistant box but it’s unlikely as we don’t have any rumors or leaks supporting that.

The upcoming iPhones are rumored to keep the same design with just a little thicker form factor to get the Force Touch feature fitted in. The camera is also going to be improved from 8 megapixels to 12. We will keep you up to date as the event happens.
