Microsoft has sent press invitations for an event on October 6. We are expected to see the new Windows 10 devices.
The main focus of the event will be the new Windows 10 Mobile devices, Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The devices are rumored to feature QHD displays, high-end Snapdragon SoCs and 3GB of RAM. The plastic design returns with a large camera bump on the back.
The Lumia 950 is going to feature a 5.2″ 1440p display, Snapdragon 808 and 3000mAh battery. The larger 950 XL has a 5.7″ 1440p display, Snapdragon 810 SoC and a 3300mAh battery. Both will have a 20 megapixel rear camera and a 5MP front facer. There will also be an iris scanner to securely unlock the device. Charging port is upgraded to a USB Type-C.
Also we are expecting to see the Microsoft’s answer to the iPad Pro. The Surface Pro 4 might be revealed with full desktop Windows 10 and in different sizes. The 12″ model might get a 13″ or 14″ variant alongside it. The specs are of course going to be impressive and comparable to laptops.
Apple’s 3D Touch video reveals the reduced battery capacity of the iPhone 6S. Information from Adobe confirms 2GB RAM for iPhones and 4GB for iPad Pro.
As usual, Apple didn’t tell a whole lot of exact specifications of their devices at the September 9 keynote. Luckily different sources are providing information about the specs before the devices have even come available for customers.
Apple’s official 3D Touch video reveals the battery capacity of the iPhone 6S. The added haptic feedback module reduces the physical size of the battery. The technology hasn’t improved enough to keep the battery capacity and the new battery is 95mAh smaller than the one in the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6S now has a 1715mAh battery compared to a 1810mAh juicer in the last year model. Most likely the iPhone 6S Plus also has smaller battery than the iPhone 6 Plus.
An Adobe worker has revealed that the new iPhones have 2GB of RAM. The information is from an internal Apple website and it’s been shared to Reddit. Apple didn’t mention the RAM size in the keynote but it’s understandable because the 100% growth to last year would have looked hideous as everyone knows that the iPhone 6 and 6S had 1GB of RAM.
Adobe has also revealed the amount of RAM in the iPad Pro. The company released an article introducing the features of the new iPad Pro and confirmed the 4GB of RAM. The statement has now been modified but the link is still down below.
The iPhone 6S is the third flagship this year to reduce the battery capacity compared to last year. The development is alarming because most users want more battery life. Most the people commenting online demand better battery life even in the cost of a thicker phone. Still smartphone manufacturers are making the devices thinner. Motorola has probably understood this with their Moto X Play and the upcoming Moto X Force. Hopefully more manufacturers are taking the note.
Apple finally got the second gigabyte of RAM. Previously it’s been a struggle to even keep tabs loaded in the browser and still customer satisfactory has been ridiculously high. Next year the customer satisfactory percent might be over 100.

Apple has released the new iPads. The iPad Pro has a 12.9″ Retina display.
The new iPad Pro is designed for multimedia and multitasking. The display is 12.9″ 2738 x 2048p IPS LCD and 264 PPI. The display has variable refresh rate to improve performance and increase battery life.
The iPad Pro has a A9X chip thats 1.8 times faster than the A8X. Apple also promises a 10 hour battery life. The Pro is 6.9mm thick and it weights 712 grams.
Apple also introduced a bunch of accessories for the iPad Pro. The Smart Keyboard has the same switches the MacBook uses and it connects to the iPad via three magnetic dots in the side of the iPad Pro. With Apple Pencil, Apple reintroduces users to a stylus. The Pencil is pressure and angle sensitive. The Pencil is rechargeable via the Lightning Port in the iPad.
The prices start at $799 for the 32GB model. The Apple Pencil costs $99 and the Smart Keyboard costs $169. The iPad Pro comes in the usual three colors, gold, silver and grey and will be available in November.
Apple also updated the iPad mini. Mini 4 now packs the same specifications that the iPad Air has but in a different chassis. The iPad mini 4 starts at $399.
Acer has demoed the Predator 8 gaming tablet and teased the Predator 6, 10-core gaming phone at IFA. The company seems to take portable gaming seriously.
The Predator 6 smartphone packs a deca-core processor and 4GB of RAM. It has an aggressive design with huge 6″ HD display, 21 megapixel camera and multiple haptic feedback motors to give mobile gamers some great new elements. Sadly, that’s all we know for now.
The Predator 8 tablet has an 8″ Full HD display, Intel Atom X7 processor and up to 64GB of storage. The display should be more accurate than usual as the touch sensors are packed denser than in normal display.
The Predator 8 is also aggressively designed to look like a gaming tablet. The body has different materials, sharp angles and front facing speakers. The Predator 8 comes available starting November 6 and it’ll cost $299.
More information about these products should appear to their website later.

Samsung has updated its high-end tablet lineup. The new Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two sizes, 9.7 and 8.0 inches and in two colors, black and white.
Updates are minor but significant. The most noticeable difference between 1st and 2nd generation is the difference in aspect ratio. The Tab S2 now adopts the same screen sizes, aspect ratios and resolutions that iPad has used for years now. 4:3 aspect ratio and 2048×1536 resolution in both models.
Also the S2 packs faster CPU and GPU package but loses greatly in battery capacity. Battery size in Tab S 9.7 was 7900mAh and Tab S2 only pack a 5870mAh. The same numbers of the smaller versions are 4900 and 4000. This is due to the trend to make devices thinner. The new Tab S2 is only 5.6mm thick which is whole millimeter thinner than the Tab S.
The Tab S2 still keeps Samsung’s AMOLED displays that have unbeatable contrast and blacks in less power consuming and thinner package than competing IPS LCD displays.
This time Samsung didn’t mention the word video in their press release for once. That’s possibly because of the changed aspect ratio. 4:3 is not perfect for videos but as iPad keeps selling with that aspect ratio, it was a logical step for Samsung to try it out.
Gone is the all plastic design as Samsung’s new design made its way to the tablet lineup. Design is mostly from Galaxy Alpha or Note 4 as the back is still plastic but there’s an aluminium trim with chamfered edges surrounding the device.
There’s WiFi only and LTE models of both screen sizes and in two storage configurations, 32GB and 64GB. Storage is expandable via 128GB MicroSD card. Prices start from 399€ for the 8.0″ WiFi only modela and 499€ for the 9.7″ model.
New Galaxy Tab S2s are directly competing against Apple’s iPads. Rumors have told us that iPad Air 2 might not be updated this year. We will see how this affects the tablet market as sales are down compared to the peak years.
