Sony is apparently bringing its new flagship in three different screen sizes. The Xperia Z5 Premium will have a 4K display.
An unofficial Sony Georgia Facebook site has released the picture above with a text that reveals new information about the upcoming Sony flagships.
The original text is in Georgian but Evleaks has put it through Google Translate and found out that there’s some new information. By the looks of it, Sony will bring three variants of their next flagship instead of the usual two. With the normal sized and the Compact model there’s a new Premium model with bigger screen. The screen is not only larger but it has four times the pixels of the normal Z5. The Z5 is going to have a 5.2″ 1080p Full HD display and the Z5 Premium will have a 5.5″ 2160p 4K UHD display. Z5 Compact is going to have a 4.6″ 720p HD display.
The Facebook post also suggests a 23 megapixel camera with F1.8 aperture, OIS and super-fast focusing. As we already know from the previous leaks, the Z5 and the Z5 Compact will have a fingerprint scanner on the side and the post also confirms the same scanner in the Premium model. Previously there’s been leaks suggesting that the Z5 will have the Snapdragon 810 SoC and 3 or 4GB of RAM.
These leaks are very interesting. Sony was one of the firsts to put a 1080p display on a smartphone and now they are doing the same with 4K. The phones are presumably released next week and launched later. As usual, pricing and availability are a big question especially in the US. Sony doesn’t have very good record in bringing their devices to the States but hopefully they have figured it out. Personally I can say that if these leaks are true, the Premium model will most likely end up in my pocket as my daily driver.
